Man fearing “Obama gun ban” kills 3 police officers, makes case for gun ban

Police: 3 officers killed in Pa. shooting

What else can you say but, “Nice going, dumbass.” Same thing goes to the semi-illiterate right-wingers that somehow think that Obama is going to void the Second Amendment. That’s about as likely as the Pope condemning the Lord’s Prayer.

That being said, I think instances like this and the recent killings of officers in California give a bit more fuel to the fire of reinstating the assault-gun ban. Someone remind me again why you need your own personal AK-47? And if your interpretation of the Second Amendment is that you get to have any and all arms, why not nuclear weapons? Nerve gas? Biological agents?

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I ❤ Michelle Obama

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

So does Her Highness, the Queen of England: Michelle Obama’s warm touch with queen draws gasps (CNN). People freaked, but it is being said that the Queen initiated the warm gesture. I’ve no doubt that this was a genuine expression of affection.

The First Lady’s warmth and inspiration extended to young women at an all-girls school where she was greeted with squeals and screams. Michelle Obama inspires British schoolgirls (MSNBC).

I’m so thrilled that after eight years of international embarrassment, we finally have a President and First Lady that are held in the highest esteem by many other countries (and yes, I was asked how Americans could re-elect an idiot like George Bush a second time by new friends in Britain and the Netherlands). I would wager that even those countries with whom we have less-than-warm relations still have great respect for President Obama and the First Lady.

I’m certainly going to relish this feeling, and hope that America continues to elect thoughtful, intelligent leaders. I won’t hold my breath or assume that things have changed for good–I’m still very frighted of a future repeat of the previous administration. I hope that Obama’s administration will remind Americans what it really means to be a world leader.

More annoying news: Bus driver with an $800,000 home

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

WTF?

Bus driver wife, construction worker husband, $800,000 house. Elsewhere on CNN she blames the bank for making it too easy to buy more house than they can afford. Apparently she thought the bank would, at some point, say, “Naw, we good. You don’t have to pay any more.”

I have no sympathy for her, and yes, I support the Stimulus Plan. But not if it’s given to asshats like this.

Zombie Banks

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Continuing the zombie meme from the last post, I heard a report on NPR about zombie banks continuing to drag down the US economy. The economist-type they talked to mentioned Bank of America, and that it was so full of toxic debt that it’s really just a walking corpse, feeding on the economy. One guy even said, “Everyone knows you can’t cure a zombie. You have to shoot ‘em.”

I say that we take all the big banks and do just that. They deserve it for what they’ve done to the economy with their greed and mismanagement (for which, apparently, they got bonuses). Asshats.

Bill-O the Clown: You can’t win this one

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I just learned that there’s a battle raging: Bill O’Reilly vs Jessica Alba. WTF?

Bill, you might as well face it–blow-hard, old, white, asshats like you can never win against intelligent, pretty, movie starlets. Especially when they school you publicly. (MSN)
